"SrimAn VenaktanAthArya: kavithArkika kEsarI!
VedAnthAchArya varyO mE sannidhatthAM sadhA hrudhi"!!

We related a few of our Lord's kalyAna guna's as
enjoyed by Shri Alavandar, with Swami Desika's qualities.

Shri Alavandar describes 'shOci' as the next
kalyAna guna of our Lord.

'apahatapApmatvam' etc are known as 'shOci'. It means,
'untouched by sin/evil'. This is Brahman's quality.
Even though Perumal is everywhere, in connection with
prakruti etc, He is untouched by its gunas (rajas..etc)
etc ; Perumal is always pure.

Similarly, Swami Desika is also pure, not at all
contaminated by materialistic elements, though Swami
was in the midst of the materialistic world.
Swami was antagonistic to all that is evil/bad
and was a possessor of all auspicious qualities.

Swami explains purity (suddhi) as the pure expressions
of mind, helping without expecting anything in return
and seeing and relishing Bhakti alone!

When it comes to speaking about the greatness of our Lord,
we say a person's sins are removed by thinking/ chanting
our Lords name. For instance Swami Desika himself states
that if one thinks of PundareekAksha, he becomes a pure
person irrespective of how he was!

Shri Kumara Varadarya, in his Pillai Andhadi explains
Swami Desika's divine qualities. It is interesting to
note that these qualities fit the Lord's unique
quality viz. SOchi.

"vittakan vEdiyan vEdAnta dEsikanengkaduppun
meittavanuttaman venkata nAtan viyankalaikan
meittidu nAvin muzyankodu vAdiyar mOlamarak
kaittava nenrurait tenkaNdi lEnen kaduvinaiyE "

Swami Desika, had the fame of being 'sarva tantra
svatantran'; was competent in everything;
had clear knowledge of the meanings of Vedanta's;
is a main AchArya for learning Vedanta;
took an avatAr in Toopul due to his devotee's extensive penance;
was the most superior; and was named as Thiru VenkatanAthan.
There is a tough competition even among the peculiar arts
because every art wants to occupy a place in Swami Desika's
tongue. These arts wait there to bounce out with a lion's roar
to cut and throw the roots of the opponents.

Shri Kumara Varadarya, says that he uttered Swami's
names and auspicious qualities this way and all his sins
disappeared immediately without leaving even a trace.
Such is the Greatness of our Swami !!!

In the very next Sloka Shri Kumara Varadarya,
explains swami's qualities even further.

"vinaikAlumakkini vErOridanthEda vEndumenaic -
cinamEvi munpOr cidaikkum vagaiyingkaridukaNdI
rEnenilirAmAnujamuni yinnurai sEruntoopur -
punidaren punthi pugundu tigazhndu pOrundinarE !!"

Shri Kumara Varadarya states that Swami Desika who
is blessed by Sri BhasyakArar's SrI Sookti's residing
in his heart, has entered his (Shri Kumara Varadarya's)
heart and blesses him by staying there always. There fore,
Shri Kumara Varadarya warns his sins that they cannot
get angry and trouble him like before. He wants the sins
to search for some other place for survival.

It is hence clear that Swami Desika is not only away from
being contaminated by materialistic elements, inspite of
being in the midst of the materialistic world, but contamination
just cannot occur to those in whose hearts Swami Desika
resides and whose mouth sings the praise of Swami!


"Kavi Taarkika Simhaaya Kalyaana guna SaalinE!
SrimatE VenkateshAya VedAnta Gurave nama !!"
