On top of hill there are sannidhi's for Nrushimhan, Desikan, Emperumanar. Sri Ramanujar's likely place. Avathara (birth) place of Nanjeer who did saranagadhy on the feet of Bhattar. Since Sandilya maharishi with god's grace, appeared as Bhadrihasrama Perumal, this place is also called as Southern Bhadrihasramam. Devotees, who couldn't go to Bhadri can imagine this lord Thiru Narayanan as Badri Narayanan and pray this lord to get the same satisfaction of BadriNarayana dharsan.

Purana history says that, at this place "Kanagamaliga", the daughter of Rama's son Kucha, was given to yathusekara maharaja as "Sthri Dhanam", then she was saluted by Vasudevar, and then by Balaramakrishnan.

Once, Prahlaatha's son Virochanan captured the crown (Kreetam) of the lord skteerapthinathan (who sleeps on the snake bed in the milky occen), Bhagavan ordered Garuda to re-capture the crown. As per the lord's order, Garuda took back the crown after winning with Virochanan, and placed it on the head of Shri Krishna at the Bhoologam. But, the crown doesn't fit properly for Shri Krishna's head. When it was fitted for Shri Ramapriya Vigraha (which was worshipped by Shri Krishna) it was just a perfect fit. So, Garuda permanently placed this crown for Ramapriyar later as per the Lord skteerapthinathan's order. Because of this incident, this place was called Neivadheyan mudi (Neiva means Garudan), which was later called as "Vairamudi".

Bramhotsavam: Panguni - "Vairamudi Sevai" is a special magnificent Utsavam here.

Route Thirunarayanapuram is located at the hill (Melkot). 12 kms from "Pandavapura" railway station on the Bangalore - Mysore rail route. There are buses from Bangalore and Mysore to the top of the hill.
